Ahoy Greenwich: (All Day)
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Greenwich is one of the most historically rich areas of London. Here we discover the Royal Museums. In fact, these are a collection of four museums is set in beautiful Greenwich Park. Our destination is the National Maritime Museum part of Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site. Our children’s tour visits this Museum dedicated to exploring life on the sea. We discover dramatic stories through the museum’s collections, including the Battle of Trafalgar and First World War sea battles to Turner’s sea-inspired artwork and feats of engineering and discovery.
The museum is an impressive treasure trove of maps, art, artefacts, and memorabilia and is enthrals children who long to imagine they are at the seaside or sailing with pirates.
Your child will be amazed at Nelson`s heroics. They will imagine themselves sailing the world in style as they explore the ocean-liner’s incredible beauty and glamour. Life on the high seas evading the law will have them walking and talking like pirates. Tales of the thrilling pirate escapades are sure to inspire more than just a few Captain Jack Sparrow look alikes!
After the Museum, we venture up Greenwich Hill. We stand on the Prime Meridian of the world, where east meets west, at the Royal Observatory – home of longitude and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). We enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across London from Royal Greenwich Park and meet the Royal Deer – descendants of Henry VIII’s hunting stock. (Greenwich was Henry VIII’s favourite place in London, and where Queen Elizabeth I was born.)
After all this history we take the time to remember we are kids rolling down the Greenwich Park hill which is one of the largest hills in London!
We can’t guarantee that your child won’t return to you talking like a pirate, but we can guarantee they will have a ball on this full day tour.
